Flashade

The Mission

Flashade selectively blocks only bright lights in your view by darkening tiny segments in the lens. It uses a smart optical film to sense the incoming glare and applies a suitable tint, so that light intensity is homogenous over the entire field of view.

The challenge

Cameras, especialyl those involved in camera vision technology often have to face bright sunlight as light conditions change. This is similar to changing sunlight conditions when wearing sunglasses. Blinding light is a constant problem in our daily lives such as driving against a rising or setting sun, and as cameras aim to replace humans, such light is highly irritating and can heavily impede functioning of cameras.

The solution

The Flashade does everything that conventional glass lenses fail to do. It ONLY blocks the bright and glaring lights in the surrounding by darkening specific miniature segments in the lens, keeping the remaining field of view at a comfortable brightness. Sunlight is instantly darkened to a normalised level. This technology can eliminate sunlight glare in conditions that might make cameras unable to perceive their surrounding!
