The challenge
Several inefficiencies arise from the time a patient makes an appointment with their doctor to the point of following the treatment. First, contacting a doctor and scheduling an appointment can be challenging. Second, patients may lose their prescriptions. Third, patients often have to visit multiple pharmacies to find their medications or return to the same pharmacy twice to pick up an ordered medication. Fourth, it is difficult for patients to understand and maintain consistency in self-administering their prescribed medications.
The solution
A three-menu application solution is proposed to address the challenges faced by patients. The app would serve as an intermediary platform, facilitating interactions between patients and key stakeholders (doctors and pharmacies). Its value proposition is a one-stop channel that enables complete management of the entire patient journey. The menus are arranged in chronological order according to the customer journey. Specifically, the first menu is for making appointments with the patient’s general practitioner. The second menu helps patients find pharmacies that have the required medications in stock or allows them to order these medications online using saved prescriptions. Lastly, the third menu provides a comprehensive list of all medications – both current and pending – along with related information such as side effects and dosage instructions.
